Prescott Fire Engine 71 was dispatched to an Odor Investigation at 2:35 am Saturday morning. After an extensive search involving Prescott and CAFMA crew, the fire was located west of High Valley Ranch Rd.
Crews initially hiked into the fire and found approximately a 1 acre fire actively burning on all four sides with 2-4 foot flames in a very steep drainage. First responding engines constructed a hand line around the fire while more crews worked to make access with engines and a water supply system.
Fire progress was stopped, and crews deployed hoselines around the perimeter of the fire to assist with complete extinguishment and control. At approximately 7 am, resources from the Prescott National Forest arrived on scene and command of the incident was transferred to the Forest Service. Crews continued to mop up the fire into the day.
