The Badgers dropped a second game to the Bears with an 11-3 defeat at Prescott High School yesterday.
Nine of the Bears ten hits were singles, and with the combination of mistakes by Prescott in the field, it cost them. Tyson Potts started for the Badgers and went 5.1 innings, before being relieved by Ethan Ammerman. Potts allowed only two earned runs, and struck out four, but giving up outs on errors let the game slipped away.
Ben “Scooter” Schwartz had a big day at the plate. The former Badger had a pair of hits, three RBIs and scored three runs. Shane Lievsay also had two hits and three RBIs. Tom McLaughlin, picked up the win, and was dominate on the mound for Bradshaw Mountain, allowing just three hits with just one walk and eight strikeouts.
Trailing 11-0, the Badgers were able to get to reliever Ryan Buckle for three runs in the final inning. Sam Strasser had a pair of hits and two RBIs and said, “It was the mental errors and physical errors on the field, and we need to clean it up. Hopefully come out and beat Mingus on Monday, and get a little playoff run going.” Lukas Barrett had an RBI single and said, “Well I just think we need to come out and play better defense. We gave them a lot of runs that they didn’t deserve.”
Bradshaw Mountain wins the Grand Canyon Region with an (11-1) mark and are (19-7) overall.
Prescott drops to (5-6) in the Grand Canyon region and (9-12) overall. The Badgers will host Mingus on Monday, for a make up game because of a snowstorm on March 10.
