Thanks to 93 donors, Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation (YC4KF) was able to raise $55,482 for the area’s most vulnerable youth during Arizona Gives Day; the largest day of charitable giving in the state.

“Out of 915 organizations that participated in AZ Gives Day, our foundation raised more than 99% of them and was the only nonprofit in the top 8 that served foster youth.” Stated Mona Stephens, Development Director of Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation. “Now, that is showing these kids we, as a community, are serious about supporting them through their toughest times!”

YC4KF has worked to enrich the lives of current and former foster youth in Yavapai County for over 20 years. They support nearly 400 youth in the county through their 9 programs and by supporting the work of the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program.

When a foster child enters the foster system with only the clothes on their back, YC4KF makes sure they can get emergency clothing. When a family fosters their relative and needs help to get them a bed, school supplies, registered in sports, driver’s lessons, or even a birthday gift, Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation is there to make sure the child’s needs are met. Those examples are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the services YC4KF provides local foster youth and how the funds raised for AZ Gives Day could be spent.

“To put it in perspective, $50,000 will allow us to provide clothing allowances for every foster child on this side of the Verde for half a year!” exclaimed Lisa Watts, a member of the Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation Board of Directors.

YC4KF wants to extend a huge thank you to the Raven Cafe, Nick Guzzo, the Wheelhouse, and everyone who donated to their AZ Gives Day Campaign or participated in their Rally of Our Children Happy Hour Fundraiser on Tuesday, April 4th.
