Mingus Marauders came back from an early three run deficit to beat the Prescott Badgers 4-3 in Cottonwood.

The Badgers jumped on top in the first inning with a three run homer by Leigha Walker, scoring Ruby Tessman and Kennedy Carr ahead of her, for a 3-0 lead.

Prescott managed only two more hits in the next six innings as Alexis Ayersman pitched a gem, shutting out the Badgers the rest of the way, with eight strikeouts and no walks. Ayersman hit one of two home runs for the Marauders. Marissa Vocca had the other one.

The Marauders picked up run in the bottom of the first, and two more in the third to tie the game at three, off of Badger pitcher Eliza Legge.

Mingus scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth. Maddie Antonini came into pitch and get the final out for the Badgers. Leigha Walker had two of the four hits for Prescott.

Prescott falls to (2-4) in the Grand Canyon Region, and (9-9) overall. Mingus improved to (7-1) and (15-2). The Badgers will host Saguaro today at 4:00 pm.

Varsity Boys Tennis

The Badgers dropped their first division match at home 8-1 to the Flagstaff Eagles. Camden Fetty was the only Badger to win his match.

Prescott (3-1) in Division II, Section II, and  (6-4) overall, will travel to Phoenix to face Deer Valley on Thursday at 3:30 pm. Flagstaff (2-0) (7-1) will host Notre Dame Prep.
