Injury Crash with Multiple Victims, Suspect in Custody

On Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 8:29 AM, a 2007 Lexus was traveling east on Manley Drive when an Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper attempted to conduct a civil traffic stop. The driver failed to yield to the DPS Trooper and accelerated on Manley Drive. The driver then turned onto Carla Vista Drive southbound traveling at approximately 100 miles per hour. Witnesses stated the driver continue to accelerate through the stop sign at Spouse Drive. The driver struck a 2004 Ford van traveling east on Spouse Drive. The van had four occupants who were all injured with one being flown by helicopter to a Valley hospital for treatment.

The van then catapulted across the intersection and struck several parked vehicles. The driver of the Lexus abandoned the vehicle and ran on foot from the scene. With the assistance of a police canine, the driver was later located hiding in a bush near the scene.

As a result of the crash, seven vehicles and three duplexes were damaged along with a Unisource gas main. Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) responded and shut off the gas.

Levi Sanchez, 20 years old, of Prescott Valley was arrested. Sanchez was transported Yavapai County Jail. He was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries, Endangerment Causing Substantial Risk of Imminent Death, Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Physical Injury, Reckless Driver, Excessive Speed, Failure to Yield, and DUI.
