Yankee Doodle Fire Near Palace Station – 90% Contained

Firefighters continue to make progress on the 7-acre Yankee Doodle Fire which is 90% contained.  The Yankee Doodle Fire was reported on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, on the Bradshaw Ranger District.  The fire is approximately 12 miles south of Prescott near Palace Station (T12N, R1W, Sec 18).  Today firefighters will continue to secure and mop-up the perimeter of the fire and monitor as interior fuels continue to burn.  The fire poses no threat to life or property.

This fire is a reminder that wildfires can happen any time of year.  We would like to remind the public that abandoned campfires are still the leading cause of human-caused wildfires and you should never leave a campfire unattended.  Forest visitors are urged to follow campfire safety procedures.  It is every camper’s responsibility to properly maintain and extinguish a campfire to prevent wildfires.

Visit “Wildland Fire AZ” for more tips on wildfire prevention and do your part to prevent wildfire.

This will be the last news release unless a significant event occurs.
