Firefighters Respond to Wildfire Near Palace Station February 10, 2022

Location: Palace Station-Bradshaw Ranger District (T12N, R1W, SEC 18), 12 miles south of Prescott; 2 miles northwest of Pine Flat.

Vegetation:   Grass, Brush, Ponderosa Pine

Summary:  At approximately 4:40 PM on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, resources from Prescott National Forest responded to a reported wildfire south of Prescott near Palace Station. Upon arrival the Yankee Doodle Fire was estimated to be 5-10 acres.  Due to the time-of-day firefighters scouted the area for containment features and initiated minimal suppression tactics on the fire. Today firefighters will be on scene using a full suppression strategy to achieve 100 percent containment.  There are no values at risk or threatened at this time.

Smoke may be visible from multiple locations including Wilhoit, Mayer, and Prescott Valley.

Resources Assigned:  1-Type 2 Hand crew, 1-Type 1 Hotshot crew, 3-Engines, 1-Water Tender and Miscellaneous Overhead.

Weather:  Today will be mostly sunny with gusty north/northeast winds for the first half today, south of the Bradshaw Mountain. Temperature-62, Relative Humidity-15%, Winds- 10 to 15 mph with gust up to 25 out of the northeast.
