Zane Gaul goes up for a basket in the Badgers 65-25 win

Jason Parent and Uriah Tenette combined for 43 points to lead the Badgers to a 65-25 win over the Lee Williams Volunteers, in the Badger Dome last night. The senior-freshman combo scored no fewer than 10 points in each of the four quarters. Parent finished with 24, that included a pair of dunks, and Tenette ran circles around Lee Williams, with 19.

Prescott jumped out to a 14-2 lead midway through the opening quarter as five different Badgers scored. Lee Williams battled back though, outscoring Prescott 8-7 on baskets by Jonny Allred and Jared Cardiff.

The Volunteers (4-8) knocked down three long distant jumpers to pull within 25-21 with 4:48 in the second quarter, as the Badger lead had nearly evaporated. From that point forward, Prescott played with more defensive intensity, shutting out Lee Williams the remainder of the quarter, while increasing the lead to 37-21 at the half.

The defensive onslaught was maintained throughout the entire second half. Prescott stole passes, blocked shots and on many occasions, limited the Volunteers to just one shot attempt.

Freshman Zane Gaul was able to reject many, and if not, at least make the opponents adjust their shots. Jason Parent also had a few blocks as well. Prescott allowed just four points in the final 20:48 of game time.

Parent said, “We played good tonight. It was great having the student section out there gibing us support. Everybody got some minutes and we were really solid defensively. Tonight we have Flagstaff and they are always tough, so we will have to try and bring the same amount of energy out here again.”

Tenette said, “It was a fun out here tonight. We went out there and played hard. Everyone did their part in the win.”

Offensively, nine different Badgers scored, as the bench was able to get some solid minutes in the forty-point win.

The Badgers (4-1) in the Grand Canyon Region and (11-8) will be back at tonight as they host Flagstaff in another GCR contest, at 7pm.
