Phoenix Man Shot and Killed in Chino Valley

On 12/19/2021 at approximately 10:06 am, Chino Valley Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Golden Drive, in Chino Valley. There had been reports of a shooting that had just occurred at the location, with one person reportedly being shot.

When officers arrived, they found a 47-year-old male, who is a resident of Phoenix, down in the front yard. The male was suffering from a gunshot wound to the face/neck. Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority and Lifeline responded to the location and attempted life saving measures on the male. After exhaustive attempts to save the male, he was declared deceased on scene.

A 62-year-old male, who resided at the location was contacted and was determined to be involved in the incident. The male was found to reside at the location and was armed with a handgun when officers initially arrived on-scene. The resident was detained for investigative reasons and the firearm he had in his possession was taken as evidence. There was also a rifle found on scene that was taken as evidence.

No further information will be released at this time, as the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made, pending the completion of the investigation.
