On 12/06/2021 at approximately 10:20 am Chino Valley Officers responded to a vehicle collision on S.R. 89 at the intersection of Road 1 North.

Through investigation, officers determined a red 2012 Buick Enclave, being driven by a 78-year-old female from Prescott, AZ, was traveling southbound on S.R. 89. As the Buick was approaching the intersection of Road 1 North, a white Ford F-150 turned in front of the Buick, causing a collision. The Ford had been stopped at the intersection of SR 89 and Road 1 North and was attempting to make a left turn onto West Road 1 North. The Ford was being driven by a 55-year-old male, identified as Rick Talbot, who is a resident of Chino Valley.

The 78-year-old female complained of chest pains and other injuries. She was ultimately airlifted to the hospital for further treatment. Talbot declined medical treatment at the scene.

During the collision investigation, officers observed that Talbot exhibited the signs and symptoms of impairment. A DUI investigation was initiated at the scene, which resulted in the arrest of Talbot for the suspicion of DUI. The investigation is on-going and charges are pending the completion of the investigation.

The Chino Valley Police Department would like to thank motorists for their understanding and patience while the roadway was reduced to one southbound lane. We also want to thank our partnering agencies for their assistance, including the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority and LifeLine Ambulance.
