Suspect Arrested for Multiple Burglaries and Auto Thefts

On 05/17/2021 at approximately 2:48 p.m. Chino Valley Officers were notified by a citizen that David (DJ) Knight, an 18-year old Chino Valley resident was observed driving a white Ford F-250, with a thin blue line flag, on East Center Street near Chino Valley High School.

David was wanted by Chino Valley Police Department for two burglaries and two auto thefts.

Chino Valley Officers located David driving westbound on East Center Street. Officers attempted to stop David but he fled. Officers initiated a pursuit. David ran a red light at S.R. 89 and Center Street. Officers terminated the pursuit at this time due to David’s reckless and dangerous driving behavior.

David continued on West Center Street towards Reed Road. David turned South onto Reed Road and drove towards Outer Loop Road. A Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed David at Reed Road and Outer Loop Road traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy initiated a pursuit. The Deputy pursued David onto Williamson Valley Road. Another Deputy deployed stop sticks on Williamson Valley Road. David ran over the stop sticks and his vehicle became disabled in a ditch. David was taken into custody without further incident.

David was booked into the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Jail on two counts of burglary, two counts of auto theft and one count of unlawful flight from law enforcement. All charges are felony charges.

Additional charges are pending from Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Prescott Police Department, Prescott Valley Police Department, Cottonwood Police Department and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. These additional charges involve auto theft, burglary and unlawful flight from law enforcement.

  1. He needs to be charged with reckless endangerment as well. He almost ran several people off the road. I was one of them. I was just glad I didn’t have my family with me at the time.
