Badgers Route Bradshaw Mountain 21-5 : PHS Sports Roundup

The Badgers made it two in a row over rival Bradshaw Mountain, this time at home with a 21-5 pounding.  Dana Seavey led the Badger hit parade with three hits, including a home run and five RBIs.

Makayla Reyes had two hits and two RBIs. Sophie Fanchin had a two RBI triple. Kennedy Carr had a home run and three RBIs.

Prescott also ran the bases well, stealing a total of eight bases on the day. Carr, Seavey, and Eliza Legge all had two apiece.

RJ Parra enjoyed plenty of run support as she picked up the win throwing three innings, allowing four runs on six hits. Reyes came in to throw the final two frames allowing a run on two hits.

The Bears were led by Brianna Baca with two hits and an RBI, and Kyla McDermott, who had two hits and two RBIs.

Up next for the Badgers (6-2) in the Grand Canyon Region, and (12-2) overall, will be Lee Williams for a home and road contest beginning next Tuesday at 4 pm. Bradshaw Mountain slips to (4-6) in the GCR, and (7-7) overall. The Bears will host American Leadership Academy of Queen Creek, on Tuesday at 3:45 pm.

Varsity Baseball

The Prescott Badgers avenged their 11-1 at home earlier this week with a 12-3 win at Bradshaw Mountain. The win ends a five-game losing streak, and evens up the Prescott record at (4-4) in the Grand Canyon Region and (7-7) overall.

Tyson Potts picked up the win for the Badgers, as he held the Bears in check, allowing only one earned run on five hits, issuing one walk and striking out six. Sam Brown took the loss, allowing six runs on five hits, allowing four walks, with two Ks.

Prescott had four home runs on the day. Two by Potts and one each by Peyton Little and Alex Vaughn. Potts had four RBIs, Little and Vaughn with three, and Elvis Hauptman had two hits and two RBIs. Ethan Ammerman had a four hit day, but did not score or have an RBI, but he did keep innings alive with his bat.

Sky Yarbrough had a pair of hits that included a double and a solo home run for the Bears, who fall to (8-2) in the GCR and (11-4) overall.

The Badgers will be at Lee Williams on Tuesday at 4 pm. Bradshaw Mountain will play a non-region game at American Leadership Academy in Queen Creek at 3:45 pm.

Varsity Girls Tennis

The Badgers had little problem in their regular season home finale with the Bradshaw Mountain Bears. Prescott beat the Bears 8-1, concluding the regular season with a (9-4) overall record, and (6-2) in Division II, Section II. The win secured the #16 and final spot in the Division II playoffs.

Next up for #16 Prescott is a trip to face top seeded American Leadership Academy in Gilbert, for the first round of the state tournament, on Tuesday April 27, at 3 pm.
