Injury Collision on Highway 89 Closes Roads

On Friday February 19, 2021 at 8:15 am Officers from the Prescott Police Department responded to a two vehicle collision on State Route 89 at MacCurdy Drive. During the investigation it was determined that a 35 year old Prescott Valley man, traveling northbound on State Route 89 failed to stop for the red light at MacCurdy Drive. He subsequently struck a vehicle driven by a 60 year old male Prescott resident who was turning left from MacCurdy Drive southbound onto State Route 89.

The 60 year old male driver sustained non life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to YRMC east. The 35 year old driver was not injured. He was found to have a suspended driver’s license and received citations for that violation. State Route 89 (southbound) was closed and one northbound lane was closed for approximately two hours. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this crash.

The City of Prescott Traffic Control Department and ADOT assisted with the highway shutdown.
