Chino Valley Unified School District Superintendent Update

On Tuesday October 13th, the Chino Valley Schools governing board voted to change instruction in Chino Valley Schools to in-person instruction where all students, kindergarten through 12th grade, will be present on campuses four days a week.  The district will continue to offer At Home Learning for those families who are uncomfortable with their child attending in-person instruction.  The all in-person instruction is scheduled to begin on Monday October 26th.

As part of the plan approved by the governing board, students at Chino Valley High School and Heritage Middle School who are choosing to continue with At Home Instruction will be transitioned to Edgenuity, Chino Valley Schools’ online instruction provider.

The district has partnered with Edgenuity for several years to provide online instruction for credit recovery and alternative education students.  The district chose to expand this partnership in order to provide a more robust educational experience for our middle and high school students.

This also allows our middle and high school teachers to focus on in-person instruction.  Students who choose At Home Learning in grades K – 5 will continue to work with a Chino Valley Schools teacher who is assigned only online students and utilizes Google Meets.

The district has taken several safety precautions in order to insure the health and safety of both students and staff.  Students and staff have their temperature taken when they arrive on campus and in compliance with Governor Ducey’s executive order must wear face coverings while on campus.

The district installed hand sanitizer stations in every classroom and retrofitted drinking fountains with bottle filling fixtures.  Staff has access to sanitizing solution to sanitize high touch areas throughout the day.  In addition, custodial staff regularly disinfect classrooms and other areas using a sanitizing fog applicator.  The district is also limiting visitors on campus, utilizing virtual field trips, and stressing hand hygiene.

In the ever-changing world of school food service, last week the District learned that the US Department of Agriculture extended the free lunch program through June 30, 2021.  For Chino Valley Schools, all students will get a free breakfast and lunch while at school.  In addition, students will be offered three free breakfasts and three free lunches when they leave for home on Thursday.

For those children that are only learning at home or are not enrolled in Chino Valley Schools, 7 days of meals (7 breakfasts and 7 lunches) can be picked up at Territorial Early Childhood Center from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday, at Chino Valley High School from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m on Mondays, or at designated bus stops on Fridays only.
