Arizona’s State Treasurer, Kimberly Yee, while visiting Prescott this past week as the keynote speaker of the Republican Women of Prescott’s monthly meeting, found time to stop by Prescott eNews for an interview with LD1 Representative-Elect, Judy Burges.
Ms. Yee was elected State Treasurer in 2018. She previously served two terms in the State Senate representing District 10, including a term as Majority Leader. From 2011 to 2013, she served in the State House of Representatives.
As Arizona Treasurer, Ms. Yee oversees the cash management of the state’s $40 billion dollar state budget and manages an additional $19 billion in state pension and trust assets. Prior to elective office, Treasurer Yee, worked in the administrations of California Governor’s Pete Wilson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
As a staunch fiscal conservative, Treasurer Yee has been an advocate of financial literacy. In 2019, she led the effort to pass a state law requiring that financial literacy be included in the high school curriculum for all public school students. The full video of her interview and comments on financial literacy are found here.
