Residential structure fire in the 600 block of Walnut Dr. in Prescott, and Shed Fire in Chino Valley

On August 12, 2020 at 11:07 a.m. Central Arizona Fire and Prescott Fire Dept. responded to a residential structure fire in the 600 block of Walnut Dr. in Prescott, AZ.  Crews arrived on the scene and found an 1,825 s.f. single story house with flames and heavy smoke coming from the home.  The forest service also responded personnel to help with a wildfire that had started in the steep terrain.  Three people were home sleeping at the time of the fire and two evacuated  while the third who was still asleep heard the smoke alarm and safely evacuated.

There were several cats in the home. Two of the cats were rescued and given oxygen by firefighters from a fido bag that is carried on the fire engines.  Unfortunately two cats perished and six more are currently unaccounted for.  Utilizing automatic aid between the agencies prevented this fire from spreading to nearby homes and vegetation on neighboring properties.  The Arizona Crisis Team and the American Red Cross responded to provide help to the residents. YCSO and Yavapai County also assisted with this incident.


On Wednesday August 12, 2020 at 12:12 pm Central Arizona Fire responded to a shed fire in the 2700 block of Navajo Pl in Chino Valley. Crews arrived on the scene and found a 10’ x 16’ shed fully involved in fire. Crews kept the fire from spreading to nearby dry grass. They also protected the adjacent home from catching on fire. Some damage occurred to a nearby vehicle and one side of the home from
radiant heat. No injuries were reported and the incident is currently under investigation.
