The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle rollover that occurred Saturday evening, resulting in the death of one woman and serious injuries to the driver.
On January 3, at approximately 5:40 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an injury accident involving ejection off of Antelope Creek Road, near mile post 7 on the dirt road. Upon arrival, Deputies located a Toyota pickup truck that had rolled approximately 20 feet down into the Big Bug Wash.
Deputies discovered two female occupants outside of the vehicle. Mayer Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and determined that the passenger was unresponsive; she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver, identified as a 38-year-old female, was found breathing but disoriented. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transported by ambulance and subsequently flown to a hospital in Phoenix for emergency medical treatment.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Unit responded. During the initial investigation, deputies detected signs of impairment at the scene. Further investigation indicated the driver had a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.236, nearly three times the legal limit.
The accident remains under investigation.
