About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Kids take advantage of skating in the dusk.

After the closure of the Roller Rave skating rink - most parents/adults in Prescott thought there was no place to skate. Well at Pioneer Park, we have an inline skating rink. The rink is where PYHA operates out of. They have a Spring, Summer and Fall Recreational League which goes under the name of MILE HIGH HOCKEY and then there is the travel hockey team that goes under the name of Prescott Storm. The travel team is neat because it give the local kids a chance to go play other teams from around the state in a tournament round robin type of game play.

This weekend is actually Hockey Weekend Across America - you can find out more about it at www.usahockey.com While most people think of hockey as being an ICE sport - we are actually an inline hockey group which allows for the kids and the adults to have league play year round here in Prescott. The ICE hockey program is limited to the time in which Tim's Toyota has the Sundogs playing and even then the competition for ICE time is tough. Lots of maintenance involved with ICE rinks.

Many parents think that hockey is too expensive to let their kids play. My goal is to raise more awareness, more sponsorships and more fundraising so that as a local non profit youth organization we will be able to offer more scholarships to local kids to participate and have some "sponsored" equipment to loan the kids to learn how to play hockey. The year round concept is nice because as a parent you can have your kid involved in a fun safe sport and not have to keep looking for what is available out there. It is also nice to have the kids grow up together playing hockey regardless of which school they go to and they are able to build long lasting friendships from playing as a team together.

It is worth noting that the Prescott Kiwanis Club paid for the scoreboard at the Pioneer Park Inline Skating Rink.
