About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Please use the contact form to send all comments and suggestions. We look forward to hearing from you.

tennis2.jpg "It's an opportunity to join a tennis club without having to join a private club," said Rick Hormann, the City of Prescott Sports Coordinator.

Hormann, who was hired by the Parks and Recreation Department in March of 2007, said that when he was hired, one of the items on his resume' that attracted attention was his experience in tennis. He attended Northern Arizona University on a tennis scholarship, and has also coached and organized numerous tennis activities. Asked if he could also do that here, he agreed.

However, when Hormann started work in March, there were a lot of other things to command his attention - like softball! He didn't really get any time to address tennis until December when things were pretty slow. He started out with a social in December to see if he could get any interest in a tennis club. Now, just a couple of months later, he's gotten 100 members to join. His next goal: to develop a Board of Directors for the Tennis Club, so that they can plan the activities, organize the tournaments and generally manage the Club.

But, in the meantime, there are a lot of opportunities to take advantage of. Membership in the Prescott Public Tennis Club is free, although partipation in each event may or may not have an associated cost. Hormann explained that he is able to keep tennis costs minimal, because there isn't as much of a expense involved with tennis - no bases or fields to maintain or umpires to hire. In addition, Hormann was able to secure a grant to help with startup costs.

Perhaps you want (need) some lessons, because you're a beginner. Boy, do they have an offer for you, only $5 per individual or $10 for a family. This includes four one-hour long lessons! Registration is still open now for the March session. These lessons are on Tuesday evenings from 6-7:00 pm.

Interested in playing in a tournament? You're just in time. Sunday, February 17, there will be a Beginners Singles/Intermediate & Advanced Doubles Tournament and Social, starting at noon. Registration fees are $10 for Individuals or teams, and there is a terrific membership discount, if you've joined the Tennis Club.
