On Saturday, the PHS wrestlers clinched their regional victory by 184.5 points, just 10 points ahead of Thunderbird. According to Coach Payne, every wrestler gave his all and wrestled with all his heart. Coach Payne was proud of his entire team, and noted that even those who did not qualify to go to the Arizona State Tournament, contributed to the Badger's Team title. "Without the points that Jon Charles, Nick Dzubak, Sam Shapiro and Adrian Martinez contributed to get to the consolation finals, PHS wrestling would have not won the region. We were in a really tough region this year especially in Martinez’s weight," he said. All together, Prescott qualified ten wrestlers for State, as did Thunderbird and Sandra Day O'Connor. Prescott High School Badgers Wrestling Coach Dan Payne was voted the Western Sky Coach of the Year, as he led his team to the Regional Title this year.
