Katherine Hammer, Student Editor for Prescott eNews.
Got some young talent at your house? Perhaps a budding artist, or a great poetry writer? Perhaps you're a teacher, and you've got a student bursting with abilities that should be showcased. Well, have we got a solution for you... (imagine the drumroll, please!) We are so excited to tell you about our newest feature in Prescott eNews: a brand-new Kids section! You may have noticed the new item at the end of our menu bar. But, this isn't your normal, every day kind of kids section, no sirree! It's different, it's unique, it's awesome! Okay, we'll calm down a bit, here, but really what makes Prescott eNews Kids different, is that all the content in this section of the site is written, drawn, created and edited by kids. Katherine Hammer is our Student Editor. You may have noticed that she has already been contributing to Prescott eNews. One of the pieces she wrote was a review of a play at Sharlot Hall Museum, called "Night at the Museum". Jody Drake starred as Sharlot Mabridth Hall, and read Katherine's review, "Sharlot Hall: A Night at Our Museum" when it was published. Later Drake commented that this review meant more to her than any other she had ever received. We took a moment to chat with Katherine. She's a normal kid, and standing still is difficult for her, so it was only a moment. When asked why she wanted to take on such a big role at Prescott eNews, Katherine replied, "Well, it's supposedly good for resumés and it sounds exciting!" Katherine explained that she is seeking submissions from other students, and discussed what she's looking for, "Stuff that people are doing at school, plays, movies, games, all kinds of stuff. You can make Sudokus, crossword puzzles, word searches, all kinds of things. Artwork is definitely good, too. You can just take a picture of it, and send it to us with your name, what school you go to, your age and if the artwork has a name, what it's called." So, kids, parents, teachers and all, here's a chance for students to have a moment in the spotlight. Send your stories, poems, photos or art to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it If your kid is great at kicking a football, or playing tennis or even painting on cows, we want to know about it, publish it, and make that young person a star - at least around town! (Parents, if you have certain preferences, such as only using a first name and last initial, or no photos of your child's face, we will, of course, respect that. Please make sure that this is specified in the the email accompanying the submission.) When we asked Katherine how many submissions she was looking for, her response was simple. "I want lots of submissions!" By the way, Katherine would also like to have student representatives at each school, so if you are interested, please send an email to her at: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
