About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Please use the contact form to send all comments and suggestions. We look forward to hearing from you.

Prescott eNews Meet'N'Greet a Huge Success PDF Print E-mail
Written by Lynne LaMaster

meetgreet2.jpgThe Prescott eNews Meet'N'Greet, held yesterday at the historic Palace Restaurant and Saloon was, well... a lot of fun! With around 50-60 people in attendance, we found it fascinating to meet some of our readers and fans - many for the first time ever! From three-year-olds to politicians, advertisers to readers, it was an interesting mix of people that found lots to talk about with one another. It was just a very enjoyable, wonderful time, and thanks so much to all who came out to join us.

One thing that I appreciated the most was the opportunity to give thanks to some of the people that have been so supportive and helpful in our first year. To begin with, Helen Stephenson has stuck with us through thick and thin, and has brought you some of the most-read articles on the site. Her column, Scholarship Toolkit, should be a must-read for any family hoping to get kids into college at today's prices.

We also took the time to thank Tracey Horn, owner of Helken & Horn Advertising, and the sponsor of the Meet'N'Greet. And the folks at the Palace (who, by the way, has a new website , and it looks fabulous!) were terrific, making sure that everyone had plenty of appetizers and beverages.

And, a big thank-you was well-deserved for Danielle Stephenson, 8, and Larissa LaMaster, 10, for their contributions to the Prescott eNews Kids section. In case you weren't aware, the Kids section is for kids, and by kids. (Okay, to be honest, a couple of the beginning articles were written by grownups, but that was just to get them started.) Katherine Hammer, 12, is also a contributor to Prescott eNews Kids, and we're very excited about the coverage we'll get from these kids and, hopefully, more for the upcoming school year.

We asked a few folks who were there for comments about Prescott eNews. We've also had several emails come in since yesterday afternoon, so we thought we'd share them with you. After all, you may be one of the folks who didn't make it!

I know I'm being repetitive, but the biggest thank you of all really goes to our readers and supporters - we couldn't have done it without you! Thanks to all who came, and thanks to all who read the site faithfully day after day! You're the best audience ever!

A Few Comments about Prescott eNews & the Meet'N'Greet

"Well, first, I must admit, I love their coverage of Big Brothers Big Sisters. It's a feature, I can always find it, and actually, that's one of the best features of the site, I can always find what I'm looking for. The messages change on the screen, so I get a constant view of what's going on, and when I'm looking for something special, I know where to find it. They're great to work with." ~ David Siegler, Vice President of Community Relations and Development for Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters

"What do I like about Prescott eNews? I like the stories, I like the easy layout, the photography, I mean Lynne and Helen put together great news for the site. The best we have locally."

"I like the fact that it's online and I can get to it 24 hours a day. I think it covers a broad range of stories, in the area, and I think it's a great concept. The more of it, the better, actually."

"I like it because they have kids and as one of their reporters, in that they tell people about other things..."

"I also like that it's community driven, meaning that citizen reporters can get in there and decide what they think is important to put out there as news, rather than having a board that may have more business, or a corporate interest decide what stories are of importance to the community. I like that sense of connection you get with Prescott eNews. And I also just like the fact that they have things like a Kids section where kids can actually contribute to something like that. Some of the columns, like Scholarship Toolkit, have been very encouraging and helpful and something that Prescott's needed for a long time. Just using that news forum as an adult education outlet is essentially a great idea, and I love that they do that."

"Seemed like a truly excellent turn out for you yesterday."

"Thanks for the fun party yesterday!!!!! Good people, good food."

" I am... so proud of what you have created here in this town. It was a fun time."

"I had fun yesterday & just received an email from a new friend I met there."

"It was just so much fun!"

"It gave me a chance to relax and have a good talk with some people that I just pass on the campaign trail."
