About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Van With 16 Undocs Stopped On I-17 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Lynne LaMaster
Thursday, 20 September 2007
On Tuesday, September 18, at approximately 8:10 PM, a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputy who was traveling on I-17 about 8 miles from Cordes Junction, observed a panel van bearing Alabama license plates that was being driven erratically. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the van and made contact with the driver, who identified himself with a Mexican Voter’s Registration card as 30-year-old Chavo Granado-Hernandez.

Hernandez told YCSO he was from Phoenix and was taking a group of his friends to Prescott to work. The deputy observed 16 occupants in the van, including four (4) females and 12 males, including the driver. One of the passengers told the deputy he was from Mexico, had been living in Phoenix and was now headed for work but he did not know where or what city.

YCSO contacted ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), who agreed to help transport the 16 individuals to the Camp Verde jail Facility. At the jail, ICE took control of all 16 individuals and transported them to Phoenix. A subsequent inventory of the van showed that the interior had been modified to carry numerous passengers.
