About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Five Destroyed Residences In Crown King Lane 2 Fire PDF Print E-mail
Written by Debbie Maneely, Forest Service PIO

Crown King Fire Chief Steve Lombardo explained during the final community meeting that some residences were in isolated areas and there had been difficulties in accessing them.

Size: 9,629 acres

Containment: 95 percent

Total personnel: 299

Crews: 6 crews

Equipment: 12engines, 7 water tender, 3 dozers

Aircraft: 2 helicopters

Insignificant fire behavior was observed on all portions of the fire yesterday. The Lorena Gulch and Horsethief Basin area remains closed as power lines are being reconstructed and hazards mitigated. Forest officials anticipate lifting the emergency area closure for Lorena Gulch, Horsethief Basin, and non-residents on Wednesday, July 9. Rehabilitation work continues across the eastern and southern divisions of the fire and firefighters continue to monitor and patrol the remainder of the fire.

At 6 p.m. today, the management of the Lane 2 Fire will transition from the Arizona Central West Zone Incident Management Team back to Prescott National Forest. The resources needed to complete the containment and perform the necessary rehabilitation will remain on the fire.

Due to efforts to reduce hazards and open roads, firefighters have had greater access to the interior of the burned area which has led to the discovery of more structures lost. To date, five residences, twelve outbuildings, and one commercial structure have been destroyed, all of which were lost at the beginning of the fire. The owners of the lost residences have been notified.

"It Can Happen to Anyone":Crown King Lane 2 fire, support for fire victims
written by Fetu, July 09, 2008
For those who would like to help support the fire victims: I have contacted Michael Whiting of United Way and he has agreed to allow United Way to be a drop off location. There is a drop off bin at United Way in Prescott Valley, 343 N Windsong Dr # 7
Prescott Valley, AZ 86314. You can drop clothing, non-perishable food, cleaning products or gift certificates for groceries/clothing. I will pick up the items as the bin fills or on July 16, 2008. We are offering this support for an entire community so, we can try and reduce some stress while the community tries to get back to their lives. Simply because, "it can happen to anyone" and we care about improving the communities and lives around us. We thank you for your support.
