Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.
Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet.
Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.
How Old Are You?
Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Update: 11 am: Horsethief Basin Summer Homes Remain Evacuated
While residents of Crown King will return to their properties today
after 6:00 p.m., the summer homes in Horsethief Basin will remain
evacuated. Numerous hazards still exist in the area of Horsethief
Basin. The fire line in that vicinity is not fully controlled.
Firefighters continue to work on the fire line, patrolling and mopping
up hot spots. Numerous dead trees standing precariously near the access
route, present a serious hazard. Heavy equipment is working
rehabilitating those areas disturbed by the suppression efforts. The
properties in Horsethief Basin are not threatened; access to the area is
hazardous. With the abatement of the hazards, hopefully within the
week, the area will be reopened to the public.
Starting this evening, Crown King residents may return to their
properties. For security reasons, no one will be allowed entry into the
evacuated area without proof of ownership or residency. Please have
appropriate paperwork and identification for this purpose. Only single
vehicles will be permitted beyond check points at Cleater and Goodwin.
No trailers will be allowed due to safety considerations.

EVACUATION LIFTED FOR CROWN KING AREA RESIDENTS ONLY
With the Lane 2 Fire now 50% contained, fire officials feel it is safe
to lift the evacuation of the Crown King area only. Residents and
property owners of this area will be allowed to return to their homes
starting Saturday night, July 5, at 6 p.m. The Horsethief Basin summer
homes area continues to be evacuated. Forest officials anticipate
lifting the emergency area closure for Horsethief Basin and non
residents on Tuesday, July 8.
There will be an informational community meeting on Sunday, July 6, at
Mayer Recreation Center beginning at 4 p.m. for all Crown King and
Horsethief Basin residents to update them on the current situation of
the fire.
Firefighters have worked diligently to build and secure containment
lines around the evacuated area. The fire hose set in and around the
subdivisions will remain in place until the fire is fully contained.
Firefighters will continue working on the fire to improve and secure the
remainder of the fire line.
Residents need to use extreme caution when traveling in the area until
the fire is controlled due to heavy fire traffic on the roads. The
Crown King Road (County Road 59) may be closed periodically throughout
the next several days for fire related activities.
