Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Size: 9,624 acres

Containment: 90 percent

Total personnel: 299

Crews: 6 crews

Equipment: 11engines, 8 water tender, 3 dozers

Aircraft: 3 helicopters

Rainfall and increased humidity in the last 48 hours, continues to maintain very low fire behavior throughout the Lane 2 Fire. Smoldering fire was observed in the east and southwestern portions of the fire. A significant amount of fire suppression rehabilitation work has been accomplished at this time. Crews and engines will continue monitoring patrols and rehabilitation of fire suppression actions near the communities of Crown King and Horsethief Basin summer homes area.

Residents and property owners in Crown King were permitted to return to their homes Saturday night. The Horsethief Basin summer home area continues to be evacuated. Forest officials anticipate lifting the emergency area closure for Horsethief Basin and non-residents on Wednesday, July 9. Due to heavy fire traffic on the roads, residents are reminded to use extreme caution when traveling in the area until the fire is controlled. Precipitation on the road from the last two days has created slippery surface conditions which has made the road very hazardous.

An informational meeting was held yesterday at 4:00 p.m. at the Mayer Recreational Center for the Crown King and the Horsethief Basin property owners to update them on the current fire situation.

Previous structure damage information has been updated to reflect the validation and location with (GPS) of destroyed structures. To date, four residences, four outbuildings and one commercial structure have been destroyed.
