The interesting artifacts are a very good way to learn about some things about local Native tribes. The oldest artifact is a wooden toy from 1000 B.C - 2000 B.C., it looks like a mule deer. Two big horned sheep heads that were carved out of stone were found 4 feet apart facing opposite directions. The Smoki Museum does not know much about these artifacts, but they were found in an excavation under the rodeo grounds. There is also a section for kids. There is a building that is a meeting room even if you aren't allowed in. There are still plenty interesting facts, for example: the second building was actually built first. There is a rug auction coming soon on Friday July 25th, and Saturday July 26th , for more information contact the Smoki Museum. Right now there is a display of Hopi Quilts, and modern Native American Art. You can also learn the History of the Smoki and Prescott. I hope you enjoy your staycation! Information:The Smoki Museum is open 10 am - 4 pm. Address: 147 N. Arizona, Prescott, access from Gurley Street. Phone: 445.1230 Admission:
