Roughriders Score Twelve Goals In Win Against Paradise Valley Community College

PRESCOTT VALLEY- After a scoreless battle in the first 27 minutes of the game in Prescott Valley, Saturday night, September 30th, the Roughriders soccer team scored four goals in a matter of seven minutes and kept the offense rolling with a 12-0 win over Paradise Valley Community College.

“I feel like we came out with a positive attitude and the scoreboard speaks for itself,” Roughriders freshman attacker Jose Perez-Flores said. “We had momentum, we were going forward, we just couldn’t find the back of the net. We kept our composure and eventually we got one in the net.”

Roughrider freshman attacker Carlo Quesada opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a goal, followed by scores from Will Baynham, Perez-Flores and Isaac Arellano for a 4-0 lead at halftime. The action didn’t cease after the break as Perez-Flores and Baynham each added a goal in the 50th and 60th minute, respectively. As the game continued, Yavapai College received scores from John Scearce, Ziyad Fares, Lorenzo Macias, Angel Lopez, Angel Lujan and Arturo Gomez.

The sizeable lead allowed Roughrider head coach Michael Pantalione to utilize his entire roster.

“It was good to get everybody involved and we had an opportunity to really play everyone on the roster,” Pantalione said. “It was nice to see the goal production spread throughout the entire roster.”

Yavapai College Roughriders soccer (12-1-2, 10-1-2 ACCAC) hosts Pima Community College for first place at Mountain Valley Park on Tuesday, October 3rd. Kickoff is 6:00 pm.
