The Prescott Badgers came to play for the fourth game in a row, and it paid off, as the Badgers upset Flagstaff 68-62 in the Badger Dome last night.
Just based on the last four games, this would not be considered an upset. The Badgers have been playing very well since their visit to Sedona a few weeks back. Prescott is averaging 75 plus points per game, outscoring their opponents by an average of nine points per contest.
Kody Jones led the Badgers with 16 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists. Cameron Parsons had another big game with 15 points. Dallin Jex also finished in double figures with 10 points. Charles Hicks had eight points and five rebounds.
Prescott came out strong with a 20 point outburst in the opening quarter, building an eight point lead at 20-12. It was the second quarter that the Badgers took control. Prescott outscored the Eagles 17-7 to lead 37-19 at the half.
Halftime adjustments made a difference for Flagstaff, as the Eagles mounted their comeback to get within 11 with one quarter remaining.
The Eagles trailed 52-41 to start the final eight minutes, closed the gap to single digits, but Prescott held their own to come away with a big eight point victory.
This is the first time the Badgers have beaten Flagstaff since January 4, 2011. That ends an (0-7) drought that saw Prescott lose all but one of those games by double digits.
