Badger Boys' Volleyball Still Looking for First Win of Season After Home Loss to Knights

PRESCOTT- The Prescott Badgers boys’ volleyball team was unable to pick up their first win of the season on Thursday night at Prescott High School against the Arizona College Prep Knights, losing 3-1.

“We went out on the court way too cocky tonight,” Tate Bassett said. “Got it in our heads that we were going to win and we didn’t come through.”

The Knights barely squeaked out a 26-24 win in set one, after being tied at 25-25. In the second set, the Badgers jumped out to an early ten-point lead but the Knights battled back and decreased the deficit to five. Prescott High School would hold on for the set win but that wouldn’t stop Arizona College Prep’s momentum as the Knights took the next two sets 25-18 and 25-15 for the game victory.

“We’re struggling learning the game, we’re learning how to play smart, we’re learning how to get past our mistakes,” Badgers boys’ volleyball head coach Josiah Ramirez said. “(Getting that first win) it’s definitely going help with their morale-it’s going to help with their emotions-to know that they can win, that they can work hard and pull out the win.”

Temple led the Badgers in kills with eight while Dallix Jex added seven and Tate Bassett picked up five. Defensively, Westen Tenney, Alex Fetter, Coltin Farnsworth and Temple each had three digs.

The Badgers (0-5, 0-4 conference) look to pick up their first win of the season against the Campo Verde Coyotes (1-2, 1-0 conference), Tuesday on the road at 5:30pm.
