Badgers Softball Scores Ten Runs In Victory

PRESCOTT- The bats continued to work on Monday for the Prescott Badgers softball team as the squad picked up their second straight win with a victory over the Estrella Foothills Wolves 10-2 on Monday.

The Wolves gifted the Badgers a few runs in the victory as two runs scored on wild pitches and one came across the plate on a throwing error. The Badgers offense would take care of the rest as Hanna Seavey picked up an RBI double and sac-fly for two runs batted in on the day while Evelyn Morales added a RBI single. Ashlynn Uvila provided the most damage with three RBIs, including a two-run homerun.

“I thought we performed really well overall,” said Uvila. “I think it was a great team win, everyone was part of the action."

Also adding an RBI was freshman Izzy Chacon who was called up from the freshman team before the game. Her RBI triple in the fourth inning gave the Badgers a 6-1 advantage.

“I just kind of got up there and did my thing and it worked,” said Chacon who went 2-4 in her first varsity game. “I thought oh I I’m really nervous and I’m going to do bad but I got on third and I was just smiling so much.”

Kendall Schwartz went the first four innings and picked up the win, striking out nine and only allowing one unearned run on three hits.

Sophomore Francesca Larson pitched the final three innings allowing two earned runs on two hits and four walks while striking out six.

“We did let a few runners on but the pitchers bode their necks and did a great job,” Badgers’ coach Randall Bryan said. “Our defense never hurts us either-they always make the plays they have to make-and I think that helps a lot too when you get runners on base, you don’t compound it.”

The Badgers (4-1, 1-1 section) remain at home for a matchup against rival Flagstaff on Tuesday March 21st at 3:45pm.
