The #5 ranked Roughrider softball team scored 32 runs Tuesday afternoon in a 18-0 and 14-0 blanking of the Coyotes from Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Yavapai sits atop the ACCAC standings with a 40-4 conference record and a 44-5 overall record. The Coyotes fall to 4-38 on the year.
Kalee Mabray had a monster day at the plate for the Rider Nine going 4 for 4 with 3 doubles, a home run, 3 runs scored and 6 RBI’s. Jaydee Boursaw was 3 for 4 knocking two home runs and driving in 4 runs. Savana Ramirez and Andrea Sotelo each had two hits apiece.
Amy Robinson got her 19th victory of the year throwing 4.2 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 4.
The Yavapai offense continued its torrid hitting in the second game led by this week’s Division I ACCAC Player of the Week Raelynn Rios. The freshman outfielder was 3 for 3 with a home run and 4 runs batted in. Sotelo was 3 for 4 with a double. Boursaw was 2 for 3.
Kiana Spencer threw 3 innings for the win.
Yavapai continues ACCAC play in the final regular season Saturday doubleheader against Scottsdale Community College on April 22nd. Yavapai swept the Artichokes in the first meeting, 7-3 and 5-3. Saturday’s twinbill starts at 12:00 PM. In between games, the Riders will be honoring the sophomore players.
