Bill's Newscast: Join MATForce for 12th Anniversary Celebration
Featured

01 February 2018

MATForce has accomplished much in 12 years.

The Prescott Valley Town Council meets at 5:30 tonight to consider an adjustment to the contract with CH2M Hill.  CH2M Hill operates and maintains the town’s utilities, including the water and sewer systems, the reclaimed water system and the recharge facility.  According to Utilities Director Neil Wadsworth, a 5 year contract was approved in 2015.  Prior to the start of the current Fiscal Year, Town staff negotiated an amendment to the contract, which includes no increase in compensation from the previous year.  This action is due to CH2M Hill incorrectly reporting on water sampling at one of the Town’s well sites.  This had caused the Town’s water system to be in violation with water quality standards for arsenic reporting.  As a result, the contract is being adjusted to reflect a more than 36 thousand dollar penalty over the first 6 months of Fiscal Year 2017.  CH2M Hill has made changes to their quality control practices to help ensure a similar situation won’t happen again.  The Town Council meeting will be held in the Library Auditorium on Civic Circle.

Join MATForce, Yavapai County’s Substance Abuse Coalition for a 12th anniversary celebration.  The celebration will take place tomorrow morning at 8 at the Hassayampa Inn.  Complimentary breakfast will be served.  The theme of the celebration is “Breaking Ground, Leading the Way.”  MATForce Board members will review major accomplishments over the past 12 years.  One of the recent accomplishments is work with the Yavapai County Overdose Fatality Review Board to address the opioid crisis.  MATForce Executive Director Merilee Fowler says the report has found in some of the overdose death cases that have been reviewed, mixed drug use was involved. Fowler explains what the goal of the report is. Action planning on the report recommendations is underway.  The Hassayampa Inn is located on Gurley Street in Prescott.
