Yavapai County Flood Control District considers update to flood damage prevention ordinance.
The Yavapai County Flood Control District Board of Directors meets at 9 tomorrow morning to consider adoption of a measure to help prevent flood damage. According to District Director Dan Cherry, the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance would replace the one currently in place. In order to maintain good standing in the National Flood Insurance Program, the District occasionally needs to update its ordinance that regulates development within flood plains. Cherry adds with updated floodplain maps being published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency this March, the Flood Control District Board has been requested to have a new ordinance effective before March 6th. The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors serves as the District Board. The meeting will be held in the County Administrative Services Building on Fair Street in Prescott.
Back to work, folks! Roadwork in the Dexter neighborhood continues.
Now that the New Year’s holiday is over, it’s back to work on the Dexter Neighborhood road and utility upgrade project. City of Prescott Street Maintenance crews have completed installation of the new water main and service lines along Bird and Ruth Streets. However, this is still an active work zone and drivers should be aware of rough roads and heavy equipment. Installation of the new water main and service lines along Campbell Street from West Hillside to West Merritt Avenue is ongoing this week. Campbell is closed to through traffic in the work zone, but personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents. City of Prescott Street Maintenance crews are also scheduled to start saw cutting Dameron Drive and installing new water main and service lines from West Hillside to Whipple Street. Work hours for this project are 7 am to 6 pm today through Friday.
