Prescott Man Arrested after Leaving the Scene of a Serious Injury Collision – Prescott Police Department

On February 3, 2024, at approximately 7:55 P.M. Prescott Police officers responded to the area of Willow Creek Road and Danita Street upon the report of an injury collision.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Matthew Lopez, a 30-year-old Prescott resident, was driving a 2015 Ford F350 southbound on Willow Creek Road. As Lopez continued south on Willow Creek Road at Danita Street, his vehicle struck an electric bicycle, being operated by a 31-year-old Prescott man, that appeared to be attempting to cross Willow Creek Road.

Lopez initially left the scene after the collision, however later returned after being convinced to do so by a friend. Lopez displayed signs and symptoms of impairment and was arrested. He was later booked into YCSO Jail on charges of DUI, Aggravated Assault, Endangerment, Criminal Damage and Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident.

The operator of the electric bicycle sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. He was transported from the scene to YRMC and later flown to a Phoenix area hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition.
