On March 7, 2017 at approximately 4:39 PM Prescott Police Officers responded to the parking lot of 1365 Iron Springs Road after receiving a report of an argument between a male and female. The caller indicated there were weapons involved. Officers contacted the female victim in the parking lot.
Officers learned that earlier in the day 57 year old Brett Goettsch, of Prescott, had been involved in an altercation with a relative at a Prescott residence, and during the altercation had fired a rifle in the direction of the victim. Goettsch then demanded that the victim take him to a storage unit to retrieve some additional weapons.
The victim then took Goettsch to a local storage unit where he retrieved numerous guns and put them into their vehicle. Goettsch then demanded that the victim take him to a local sporting goods store to purchase ammunition. He stated that he was going to go and kill people. He also told the victim that he had plans to shoot it out with the police.
At approximately 5:25 PM, Officers conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle in the 100 block of N. Willow and Goettsch was taken into custody without further incident.
Goettsch was later booked into the Yavapai County Jail for multiple felonies including kidnapping, aggravated assault, endangerment and other related charges.
