Yesterday, following an investigation by detectives from YCSO’s Criminal Investigations Bureau, 41-year-old Kenneth Blair of Prescott was booked for the murder of his wife, 41-year-old Delissa Blair. The victim was pregnant at the time resulting in a second count of murder involving their unborn child. Bond has not been set. The couple has two children, ages 5 and 11, who were home at the time and not injured.
Kenneth originally called YCSO just before 5 AM yesterday claiming he accidently shot his wife as they struggled over a handgun. When deputies arrived, they found Delissa lying on the bed suffering from a gunshot wound to her head. She was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center and later pronounced dead. Kenneth was detained and eventually admitted in a follow-up interview that he became upset with Delissa and shot her. He was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center around 10 PM last night on 2 counts of 2nd Degree Murder.
Detectives remained on scene yesterday and into the evening investigating the incident and collecting evidence. Representatives from the Department of Child Safety, Yavapai Family Advocacy Center and the Trauma Intervention Programs responded to assist the children and other family members.
