Camp Verde Conservatives Host Candidates

The Camp Verde chapter of Yavapai County’s Conservatives for a Constitutional Republic (ConCR) has announced that Kara Woods,  a local Prescott Unified School District Governing  Board Member and candidate for state Superintendent of Public Instruction will speak at their upcoming meeting, this Tuesday, October 5th,  at their new  location, the VFW Post 7400 in Cottonwood. Also speaking is Nick Meyers,  who is running for a seat on the Arizona Corporation Commission.  The Camp Verde Chapter of ConCR  was  organized earlier this year and now meets on the first Tuesday of  each  month from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm,  at the VFW, 705 E. Aspen Street, Cottonwood, Arizona. Their meetings are free and open to the public. Those who have attended  previous meetings should note that this is a new meeting location for the Camp Verde Chapter of ConCR.

Kara Woods is a 20-year classroom teacher, having taught in parochial, private, and public schools. Since moving to Prescott, Arizona in 2013, she led the advanced math program at PUSD’s Middle School. She is running on a platform of returning public education to a more traditional curriculum with higher academic values. Her website states, “We need to bring back the basics of education, math, science, reading, writing, fact-based history and civics.  Keep Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project out of the  K-12 curriculum.’’  Ms. Woods is an advocate of  career and technical education to better prepare students for life after graduation,  either in  the job market or higher education.

Nick Meyers is a self described conservative Republican now running for the Arizona Corporation Commission. He states that for the last five years he has worked with the Corporation Commission on behalf of his community on ratepayer issues.  As a policy advisor to Commissioner Justin Olsen,  he has worked to resolve issues related to a dysfunctional utility in Pinal County that was found to have been defrauding customers over an extended period of time.  He is running as a candidate experienced in Arizona water issues and as an advocate for ratepayers. His website is here.

Both Ms. Woods and Mr. Meyers will stand for questions following their presentations.

The Camp Verde chapter of Conservatives for a Constitutional Republic meets monthly in Camp Verde.  Jim Dutton is President of the Yavapai County organization.  Ms. Rose Sperry coordinates the meetings in Camp Verde.  This month and in the months ahead, conservative candidates for all top level state and national officers are scheduled to address the group.  All those interested in meeting Ms. Woods and Mr. Meyers and hearing about their qualifications and policy goals if elected are cordially invited to attend.
