Renaissance Festival Welcomed Back By Many

Photo: Tartanic

After COVID silenced the Arizona Renaissance Festival for the first time since it began back in 1989, this year the people have returned in large numbers, which is good for everyone involved.

The 51 acre festival fairgrounds features 16 stages and is located outside of Florence, south of Apache Junction, and runs through April 3. Open days are Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm.

All the entertainment, food, rides, shops, and everything else we have come accustomed too is back. Getting into costume is encouraged but not required to attend. Although I must say that being in costume enhances the experience.

My lady and I debated our top picks of the day, and thought we would share them with you.

Number one shall be the jousting. There are three times during the day to make your way to the grandstand area for this event.

Number two has to be the band Tartanic. This bagpipe, drums, and dancing band is worth every minute. Leader Adrian Walter said, “We are very happy to be back at the festival, and to see so many of our friends come out to welcome us back.” The band has multiple performances during the day, and a must on my see list.

Three is Hey Nunnie Nunnie. These two nuns are a hoot with the religious jokes, that are very family friendly. Even if you are not into religion, you are sure to be educated by these two sisters.

Number four is the juggling trio of London Broil.  Matt, Louie, and AJ are three of the best you will ever see, all the while tossing out bits of comedy throughout their show. Once again, a good family time experience awaits you with these three.

Rounding out the top five, is Gypsy Geoff. His one man circus is a seat filler that will even make stars out of young children.

There are many other performers that are worthy of your attendance, so when you arrive, check your program for time and places. Most importantly enjoy your time there as you take a brief step back into time.

As always, parking is free. For more information, go HERE.
