Dog Breeds That Need a Fair Amount of Exercise

Are you someone who lives a very active lifestyle and wants a dog to match the energy? Do you want to know which dog breeds require a good amount of exercise?

Did you know that some dog breeds are more athletic than others? If you’re an athlete, knowing what breed of dog is right for you can be the difference between victory and defeat. Some dogs, like Newfoundland’s or Rottweilers, are great at pulling sleds or carrying heavyweights.

However, other breeds like Pugs and Bulldogs don’t fare as well in these areas. So before choosing a canine companion to accompany your workouts with, it’s important to do some research on their physical abilities so that they can work best with your body type and needs!

Goldendoodle

Dogs are animals that will always need exercise, no matter the breed, the size, or anything else. However, some breeds need a lot more exercise than others and this is something that you should take into consideration when you are adopting a pup.

The first breed that we have on our list is the Goldendoodle. This beautiful pup is a mix between a golden retriever and a poodle. Which gives them a lovely shape and beautiful golden locks. Goldendoodles come in all different sizes ranging from small to large too, and you can get yours at abcspuppyzs.com. The golden retriever side of the dogs means that they require a lot of mental and physical stimulation and exercise to stay happy and healthy and to not be too rowdy at the end of the day. They need plenty of exercises, but a good long walk should be sufficient and should keep them well exercised.

German Shepherd

Next up on our list, we have German shepherds. These dogs were bred to be active. Originally, German shepherds and other Alsatians were bred to be working dogs. They are used a lot when it comes to military and police working dogs to help sniff out drugs as well as bombs and other dangerous materials.

However, there days plenty of people have them as companions at home. If you plan on getting a German shepherd something to note is that they require a lot of exercises and daily mental stimulation to keep up with their standard of health and living.

These dogs could walk the whole day if you let them so getting them as much exercise as possible is optimal.

Border Collie

Moving on down our list, we have the border collie. This is yet another breed of dog that was bred to be a working breed. They are a herding breed of dog that is mainly used to herd sheep, cattle, and even goats.

This breed is one of those breeds that will do exceptionally well living on a smallholding or farm with a lot of space to run around. They require extensive amounts of exercise, and they will get irritable and unmanageable if they do not get enough of it.

Before getting a border collie it is important to make sure that you have the time and energy to give it the exercise it needs.

Golden Retriever

Next up we have the golden retriever. This is a breed that was bred to be a hunting dog, and many still go on all sorts of hunting adventures with their owners. However, these days they have become more of a household pet and are one of the most popular breeds for families.

This doesn’t mean that they don’t need much exercise. They need quite a lot of exercise in the day, and they also require a good amount of growing to keep their fur from matting and from shedding all over the place.

Husky

Last but not least, we have the husky. Huskies are a beautiful breed of dog that are native to colder climates and love being out in the snow. Many huskies in the past were bred to be working dogs and they would pull sleds in the snow.

However, these days more people have them as companions and don’t use them for work. With that said, they still require plenty of exercises daily and this includes running around and not just going for a quick walk.
