SR89 Roadway & Infrastructure Improvements Project – Community Feedback Requested

The State Route 89 (SR89) Roadway & Infrastructure Improvements Project is currently in the early planning stages by the City of Prescott Public Works Department (City). The project includes the construction of infrastructure improvements along SR89, between the Phippen Roundabout and Willow Lake Road Roundabout, with the potential of additional roadway improvements. The goals of this project include upgrading sewer mains to centralize the wastewater treatment processes at
the Airport Water Reclamation Facility, improve access and safety at intersections, reduce traffic congestion, provide for safer evacuation routes, minimize impacts to the Granite Dells and improve the ride quality for motorists.

The City is interested in receiving public comments from the community regarding this project. While there is no formal design in place for this project, a conceptual layout has been produced to illustrate the potential roadway improvements being considered.

The City of Prescott has an interactive Virtual Meeting Room regarding the SR89 infrastructure improvements. The meeting room has project information, videos of the corridor between Willow Lake Roundabout and Phippen Roundabout, proposed improvement layout and a public survey. Please note that the survey will close on November 10, 2023.

The City will be hosting a community open house meeting to discuss this project in greater detail on Wednesday, October 4, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Adult Center of Prescott, located at 1280 E Rosser St.

Additional information regarding this meeting will be released as the date approaches. To receive future eNewsletter project updates, email a request to news@sr89improvements.com

  1. 1st. This project would effect the natural beauty of the Boulder and will only benefit the FEW.
2nd. If this project is approved I would be willing to bet money on the possibility of OVER RUNNING the estimated construction cost.
3rd. I have doubts about the TIMEFRAME to complete the project.
4th. How is this project going to be paid for? Developers are all ready anxious to start development on whatever open spaces still remaining in Prescott.
5th. Where are we, the current residences of Prescott, going to get our water needs in the future?
6th. Why are there those among us who are bent of turning Prescott into another Los Angeles. Why continue the destruction of our once, beautiful community.
7th. Why is this project considered an “IMPROVEMENT”? Just because it’s a change doesn’t mean it’s an “IMPROVEMENT”? Unless of course you consider much more traffic an improvement.
8th. I AM TOTALLY AGAINST THIS PROJECT
