Find your new furry love connection!

PRESCOTT, Ariz., (February 8, 2017) – Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) of Prescott, Ariz. invites the community to attend a “Doggie Speed Dating” event to encourage pet adoptions this Saturday, February 11, from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

YHS volunteers will present adoptable dogs—what the shelter considers to be their most eligible canine “bachelor and bachelorettes”—to prospective adopters. These dogs will be staged in a circle in the Adoption Center dog park. Each event attendee will receive a “speed dating card” for each dog with the pet’s “singles ad” on front and space for notes on the back of the card to help adopters remember what they loved or wanted to learn more about each dog.

Potential adopters will spend a three-minute session with each adoptable dog, at the end of which a bell will ring and the visitors will move on to the next dog until they find their “love connection.”

This event is a part of YHS’s “Give Love” campaign, through which the shelter has joined national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society, along with animal rescue groups and shelters across the country. This promotion offers $14 pet adoptions and runs through Feb. 14, 2017.

The idea for “Doggie Speed Dating” is a tried and true concept for YHS’s new Executive Director, Jocelyn Bouchard. “This is an event that we held at both the Hawaiian Humane Society and Maui Humane Society. The goal is to make great matches for pets and their new forever families. Speed dating is a really fun way to help us do that, and it’s something adopters seem to really enjoy.”

YHS reminds people that taking a “furry valentine” comes with plenty of perks. “It’s hard to beat the companionship of a devoted pet. They don’t expect you to take them for a fancy meal; you don’t have to buy them roses or chocolates (that’s not good for them anyway); and they don’t care about diamonds or getting all dressed up. Mainly, you can count on them for unconditional love,” says YHS Marketing & Development Director, Elisabeth Haugan.

To join the Doggie Speed Dating event, visit the YHS Adoptions Center this Saturday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m.. For more information, call 928-445-2666 or visit www.yavapaihumane.org.
