About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

liveitup2.jpg Buying and Selling homes is a Serious, Sterile, and Intense Process – NOT!!!

You know, the NASA space shuttle re-entry is pretty intense and it works better that way.

But real estate in Prescott is just another fabulous part of life. I think there is a state law that requires that you relax and have a good experience. You aren’t allowed to move here unless you fail a stress test and know some good jokes to tell at the office. We are all good shoppers. There is a ton of information on the net about every subject known to Mann, and then some!

So, why not take some time to remember why you chose to live in Prescott in the first place? Here are some relaxed reasons to ponder:

  • We have perfect weather– it actually snows once in a while, get the camera because it will be gone quickly. Fall and spring are long and gradual and summer is almost never 100º F (average 18 degrees cooler than the Valley of the Sun).
  • Prescott is a mile high, has no smog, lots of trees and terrain. Phoenix is a desert, Prescott is in the mountains.
  • People are so grateful to live here, ask around town.
  • Prescott has lots of culture, music, and events downtown - car shows, craft fairs, dancers, performers, museums, and lots of exciting things to see.
  • There are dozens of hiking trails, OHV areas for off-road, camping, 6 golf courses, and shopping malls.
  • Lots of room for your horse, fabulous winding roads for your Harley, the Grand Canyon is only a gorgeous two and a half hour drive, Lake Powell is three and a half hours away, Flagstaff (Route 66) is one and a half hours, Scottsdale is one and a half, Jerome is an hour and a million acres of national forest is just down the street.

Don’t follow the Crowd

Now, as far as real estate in Prescott goes, be smart. Don't follow the crowd.

News is sensational by nature, it sells more papers that way. People tend to believe something after being pounded with it over and over and these headlines have a substantial effect on the stock and real estate markets. As of early June, 2007 the headlines paint a gloomy picture for real estate nationwide. New home sales are down, resale prices drop 2%, blah, blah.

Actually, there is always a bright side to real estate and all you need is basic skill in arithmetic to prove it. From 2002 to 2005 real estate values in Prescott doubled. Yes, that means a 100% increase. To capture all of that increase you should have owned a house in 2002 and sold it 2005. For the most part, people were buying houses during that time and sellers were waiting for the extreme peak of value. They waited so long in fact that prices started to drop and then they said, “Oh my, we better sell now”. Too late, guys, your peak has passed and nobody is buying anyway. The moral of the story is don’t follow the crowd, do what other people aren’t doing.

In real estate when buyers are everywhere but nobody is listing their home for sale, sell. When the market is flooded with homes, like now, and buyers are scarce, buy. If you want to have your cake and eat it too, buy a 2nd house. Maybe give it a paint job or a remodel and sell it when the market takes off. Then buy another home when the sales are soft. Pretty easy math really and, unlike the stock market, almost nobody loses their shirt in real estate.

s an added bonus, you can park your life in your latest project. Live right in downtown Prescott or get some acreage out of town and raise Alpacas or ride your horse.
