About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news. 

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Gabriel: Child of the Week PDF Print E-mail

Child of the Week is a regular feature in Prescott eNews in cooperation with Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters (YBBBS), which provided the information about this week’s “Little.” BBBS currently has many children waiting for adults to step forward and be mentors. Anyone would be fortunate to have Gabriel as a little brother. This seven-year-old is a little coy at first, but after a few minutes, he feels like a new friend. Gabriel has a lot of interests, abilities and talents for a well-rounded life, but, as his mom puts it, “he’s hungry for a man in his life.”

Because Gabe has a variety of interests, he also has some interesting collections. His favorite is a diverse collection of rocks – some smooth, some rough, some sparkly, some colorful. Gabe also collects fools’ gold and likes to tease people into believing it is actually real. So, it’s no surprise he wants to be a geologist when he grows up so he can explain his unique rock collection every time he shows it off. In addition to rocks, Gabe also collects United States quarters.

Gabe also likes to work with his hands. At school last year, he learned how to knit and next year he’s looking forward to crocheting. Gabe also enjoys drawing and making flying airplanes. He’s interested in building models and perfecting his knack for juggling.

Oftentimes, the low and soothing tones of an Australian instrument, the didgeridoo, are heard from Gabe’s bedroom. The didgeridoo is a long wooden tube that a person blows into to make sound. Gabe constructed his didgeridoo from PVC pipe and tape at Clown Camp last year.

Gabe says he would rather spend time outdoors because being inside all of the time gets boring. He has a fishing pole waiting for some use and a bicycle that could take some more wear and tear. Sometimes he just wants to run around and he would like a Big Brother who could take him to the park to do just that. Gabe is also fond of animals; he would like to take trips to the zoo. Generally, though, it doesn’t seem to matter to him how he spends time with a Big as long as he has one to spend time with, you don’t have to change your life to change his.
