About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Shoot-Out on Whiskey Row PDF Print E-mail
Written by Lynne LaMaster
Sunday, 27 July 2008

shootout2.jpg You may not have known about it, but yesterday, July 26, 2008 was the National Day of the Cowboy . (Last year the City of Prescott did a Proclamation for National Cowboy Day, but that didn't happen this year, so maybe you just didn't have it on your calendar!)  And how better to celebrate than with the 3rd Annual Shootout on Whiskey Row?

The Shootout is one of the highlights of the summer, hosted by the Prescott Regulators & Their Shady Ladies, and it's for a good cause, since all proceeds go to Big Brothers Big Sisters

If you didn't make it yesterday, you missed a rip-roaring good time. Cowboy hats, boots and spurs were seen up and down Whiskey Row along with straggly beards and holstered pistols.

Lovely ladies strolled along Montezuma in bustled dresses, wearing beautiful and elaborate hats while finding shade underneath their lacy parasols. Other types of 'ladies' were also seen, wearing corsets and seductive smiles.

The re-enactments were lots of fun, too. While they bring a little bit of history to life, the bad guys are taken care of, and the good guys are left to rescue another damsel in distress and clean up the town once more for law-abidin' citizens.

Of course, the Prescott Regulators take this opportunity to teach folks about safety and the importance of remembering that even shooting blanks can be dangerous if not done carefully. This is definitely one of those 'do not try this at home' events.

The good news is that if you didn't get a chance to see it yesterday, there's no need to despair. Today promises to be another full day of adventures in the Bloody Bucket Saloon, right in the middle of Montezuma Street. So, grab your cowboy hat (or not) and head on downtown for a fun-filled day of good ol' fashioned gun totin' action.
