The Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program (RESEP) was created to provide outreach to Arizona residents who have been exposed. They offer a free medical screen for cancer, education on exposure, and assistance for filing claims under the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA). You may be eligible for compensation if you meet certain qualifications as a “down-winder,” if you were an on-site participant in nuclear testing, or worked as a uranium miner/miller/ore transporter during certain periods of time in the 1950s and 60s. Affected Arizona counties include Apache, Coconino, Gila, Navajo, Yavapai, and the northern part of Mojave county. Cornelia Todecozy, RESEP Coordinator for North Country Health Care, educates and assists by presenting free workshops. She is “a free resource who bridges a connection between a qualified individual and the Department of Justice, which oversees this federal program.” The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, July 31, from 9am-11am in the Sharlot Hall Museum Library and Archive at 115 S. McCormick in Prescott, two blocks west of Courthouse Plaza. For further information, please call Cornelia Todecozy at 928/774-6299 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
