About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Clyde and Lynette Woode.
It's not often that you can go to a restaurant and get terrific food and learn about what you just ate or drank at the same time. But, that's the opportunity being offered by the Royal Hawaiian Coffee & Wine Co..

On Saturday, October 20, there will be a Coffee Social in the cafe, complete with a short seminar on coffee. Four famous Regional Coffees will be offered side by side for tasting alongside some pretty terrific desserts.

Now, it's probably worth backing up a bit, and explaining a few things about the Royal Hawaiian Coffee & Wine Co.. Owned by Clyde and Lynette Woode, this hidden gem of a restaurant can be found at 1957 Commerce Center Circle, out in the Prescott Lakes area. It is split into two separate areas, the Cafe' and the Wine Company. They even have separate doors. And, from the beginning, the Royal Hawaiian Coffee & Wine Co. was meant to be much more than a place where you simply sit and eat, or run in to purchase a bottle of wine.

You see, Clyde loves wine and is considered to be an expert in his field. And it's his passion to teach people about wine, and to bring in experts and vendors that also share their knowledge. With this vision in mind, when the Woodes planned their shop, they built a full-fledged classroom right into the Wine Company side. It has some very comfortable chairs, long tables, and and even video capabilities. You've probably never had a classroom this comfy before.

Lynette manages the cafe' next door. The focus of the cafe' is terrific, freshly ground coffee and wonderful food, including delicious desserts. But, just because Clyde loves teaching about wine, it doesn't mean that he's not extremely knowledgable about coffee, too. And, he loves to teach about coffee almost as much as teaching about wine.

So, Clyde and Lynette have begun to offer Coffee Socials, which start at 7 pm and go through 8 pm. Lynette also offers a special dinner beforehand from 5-6:30 pm. What's on the menu? Well, during the last social, she served stuffed chicken breast. This month, Lynette is planning on baked salmon, complete with side dishes. But, any dinner on the menu can be purchased that evening, and if you've signed up for the social, you get a 20% discount off your meal.

By the time you leave, you'll be much wiser about coffee, stuffed with some wonderful food and have a goody bag to take home. What's not to like about that?

Details:

Cost: $10 for the Coffee Social, includes taste testing, desserts and a goody bag. If you purchase a pound of the Estate Grown Pure Kona Coffees, you get $5 back from your Coffee Social fee. Meals are priced separately, but you also receive a 20% dicount on meals served that evening.

Times:

Dinner: 5-6:30 pm

Coffee Social: 7-8 pm
