Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Rodeo Crowd Cheers As Keys Handed to City of Prescott PDF Print E-mail

Historic Intergovernmental Agreement Story

During the final rodeo performance on July 4, 2007, Johnny Reyes, President of the World's Oldest Rodeo Board handed off the keys of the rodeo to Prescott Mayor Rowle Simmons.

This ceremony culminated the the historic land swap agreement by the City of Prescott and Yavapai County, signed on June 19, 2007.

By swapping the old county fairgrounds which were within the city limits of Prescott, for other land needed by the county for various projects, the longterm fate of the rodeo was assured.

Wednesday's mid-rodeo ceremony celebrated the agreement between the city and county in front of the crowd that probably felt the most deeply invested in the outcome.

Had this agreement not been reached, there was a possibility that the rodeo would need to move to another location, probably outside the city limits. This agreement also gives the city and the rodeo board more flexibility in the development of the rodeo and the rodeo facilities by not needing to involve a third party in the decision-making process.
