Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Commander P.J. Janik
Prescott Valley, Ariz.—Commander P.J. Janik of the Prescott Valley Police Department announced that he has submitted his resignation in order to return to retirement, effective June 28, 2008.

Commander Janik began his service with the Prescott Valley Police Department in August 1996 after 17 years of service with the City of Tempe. He was approved for retirement by the Prescott Valley Retirement Board on May 1, 1999, and thereafter returned to active service in Prescott Valley. He now desires to return to retirement after 30 total years of police service.

During his employment in Prescott Valley, Commander Janik has been instrumental in improving the quality of service afforded the Town’s citizens. Commander Janik is most proud of implementing the following projects/programs: photo enforcement, the DARE and School Resource Officer program; bike patrol; the first joint police dispatch with Prescott PD; the Watch Your Car program; fixed structured patrol squads; district policing; and the Community Service Officer positions.

In addition, Officer Janik was the driving force in designing and transitioning to the new uniforms, patch, badge and black and white patrol cars.

“I’ve been grateful to have had a part in the phenomenal growth and development of this organization as the community has grown,” said Janik. “I am especially proud of the opportunity to serve with so many professional officers and staff.”
