Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

Last spring, seven-year-old Ryan Hadley walked all night in the Relay for Life fundraiser to benefit cancer research. Little did Ryan or his family know, but he had cancer too.

Ryan lives in Chino Valley with his mom, dad and two dogs, Scrappy and Velma. Family friend, Krystal Thomas, describes the second grader as a quiet and compliant child. She says Ryan likes to travel and learn how things work. So, it's not a surprise that Ryan loves Legos. He spends a lot of time watching the History Channel and would like to meet NASCAR driver Tony Stewart one day.

Ironically, Ryan was wearing his Relay for Life shirt the day he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Ryan had been having severe headaches, and, finally, after visiting several doctors, it was discovered that he had brain cancer. Ryan’s loved ones believe that prayers and faith have halted the cancer from spreading in his body. Over the next 11 months, Ryan will travel to and from Phoenix for radiation and chemotherapy treatment. There will be a six-week period where he and his mother will live in the Valley.

The medical expenses will be astronomical. His father, Darrell works for a paving outfit which has stationed him at Sunset Point. Ryan’s mom Crystal is a first grade teacher, has taken non-paid medical leave to care for Ryan, who is homebound. Even though he is ill, Ryan is continuing his studies at home during his treatment, and like any normal kid, can't wait to finish schoolwork so he can play with Legos.

Friends of the family are holding a Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction Benefit for Ryan. It will take place at the Territorial Elementary School gym on October 26 at 6:00 pm. You can bring cash donations to the Spaghetti Dinner, and also bid on some very cool items, which will help his folks with expenses. If you want to bring something directly for Ryan, you can bring some Legos, and he'll be sure to get them.

For those people unable to attend the Spaghetti Dinner, contributions can be made for Ryan Hadley at Chase Bank. The account number is 763746369. For more information, email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

A booth has been set up at the Pumpkin Festival, being held at Windmill Farms in Chino Valley. You can purchase tickets or make donations there.
